European Court of Human Rights rulings in three climate cases
Human rights court confirms: Switzerland's climate action is so inadequate that it violates human rights.
Six Portuguese young people, a French former mayor, and thousands of Swiss older women have taken their states to the European Court of Human Rights because the inadequate climate action of the states violates their human rights. On April 9, 2024, the Swiss women won! In a historic ruling, the European Court of Human Rights concluded that Switzerland has failed in its climate action, to the point of violating its legal obligation to protect human rights.
