We need your help to get more standing!

We only need 39 more members to have standing to challenge certain decisions in Swedish courts - become a member of Aurora and we can appeal decisions that destroy the health of the planet and people!

In the fall of 2022, we sued the Swedish state for insufficient climate action. The Supreme Court is currently considering whether a climate lawsuit like Aurora's can be tried in Swedish courts. We believe that the law is a legitimate tool to protect nature and our human rights. That's why we now want to use the law in more ways - but we need your help!

The Environmental Code contains a rule (Chapter 16, Section 13) that states that an environmental organization may have the right to appeal certain decisions that affect the environment - this right is called standing. Examples of decisions that can be appealed against are permits for environmentally hazardous activities, decisions on exemptions from shoreline protection and certain decisions to allow felling of forests.

In order for us to have this standing, we must meet certain conditions:

   1. The main purpose must be to protect nature conservation or environmental protection interests - check!

   2. Not be for profit - check!

   3. Have been operating in Sweden for at least three years - check!

   4. Has at least 100 members - we need your help here!

We only need 39 more members to fulfill the conditions for standing. By becoming a member of Aurora, you can help us achieve this, so we can appeal against environmentally harmful decisions. There is no requirement to actively participate as a member. Fill in this form for more information!
